Description

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Consultant Specialist.

Principal responsibilities:

  • Engage with the CIB Chief Data Office (CDO), business users, and relevant subject matter experts to understand, clarify, and prioritise business requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into deliverable solution approaches, functional requirements, and high-level design documentation.
  • Contribute to the technical and logical design of key components, producing required design artefacts and interface specifications.
  • Communicate functional solutions to the development team and provide ongoing support as needed.
  • Work closely with the production support team to ensure requirements and delivered solutions are well understood and readily supportable.
  • Promote solution architecture principles, best-practice techniques, standards, and tools.
  • Provide recommendations and roadmaps for proposed solutions.
  • Document and share best-practice knowledge for new solutions.
  • Advocate for process improvements and support the development of solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership to the team throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in proof-of-concept (PoC) and technical validation activities to assess feasibility and risks, and recommend suitable approaches.
  • Participate in design reviews and solution/code walkthroughs, providing constructive feedback and driving issues to closure.
  • Manage design activities within own scope during agile iterations, delivering in line with product and delivery timelines.
  • Identify and document key technical risks, dependencies, and technical debt, and drive alignment with stakeholders on remediation plans.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise, Platform, and other architecture roles to align direction and continuously improve existing solutions within agreed frameworks.
  • Support delivery coordination activities as required (e.g., requirements clarification, plan alignment, and cross-team communication).

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a Solution Architect within a large organisation.
  • Strong logical thinking with the ability to abstract architectural patterns from technical solutions.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to articulate, present, and drive approval of solutions at the appropriate level for both IT and business audiences.
  • Experience with streaming technologies (Kafka, Flink, Pub/Sub).
  • Knowledge of database technologies (SQL/NoSQL).
  • Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL/data integration.
  • Operating systems and scripting: Linux, shell scripting, PowerShell.
  • Experience with at least one cloud platform (GCP, Azure, AWS).
  • Experience with big data platforms (BigQuery, Hadoop, Spark, Databricks).
  • Experience in data modelling, with a solid understanding of data model design.
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to challenge designs and decisions.
  • Experience managing and resolving complex issues using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly get up to speed with the current data landscape and apply analysis and data skills to new contexts and approaches.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong virtual communication (conference calls, video conferencing).
  • Strong planning, organisation, and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Self-aware, with the confidence to work independently.
