Gifted & Talented After School Teacher @ Cavanaugh

The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI.

We are seeking an exceptional Gifted & Talented Teacher with deep content knowledge of reading and math.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate is a dynamic educator who is passionate about challenging and inspiring gifted learners, fostering a culture of critical thinking, inquiry, and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver a project-based curriculum tailored to gifted and talented students.
• Utilize inquiry-based, problem-solving, and discovery-driven instructional approaches to cultivate deep learning.
• Encourage students to engage in higher-order thinking, abstract reasoning, and mathematical modeling.
• Foster an interactive, student-centered classroom environment that promotes collaboration and discourse.
• Communicate regularly with parents and administrators regarding student progress.
• Be present for the entire program.

Qualifications

• State teaching certification (preferred)
• Proven track record of success in teaching.
• Demonstrated ability to engage, inspire, and challenge students at an advanced level.
• Strong knowledge of math and reading skills and strategies.
• Exceptional ability to foster intellectual curiosity, independent thinking, and creativity.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and faculty.
