Diesel Calibration Engineer

As a Diesel Calibration Engineer at AVL Italia S.p.A., you will independently handle the calibration and optimization of control units for various vehicle systems to meet legal requirements and customer demands. The role focuses primarily on diesel engine calibration, including performance optimization, fuel consumption improvement, emissions compliance, and aftertreatment system calibration.

Responsibilities:

• Independently calibrate control unit functions for various vehicle systems, with a strong focus on diesel engine management systems.
• Plan, execute, and evaluate calibration functions in different environments, such as test tracks, engine and powertrain test benches, and software-in-the-loop environments.
• Optimize diesel engine functions, including combustion, air path, fuel injection, torque control, emissions, and aftertreatment systems.
• Create documentation for calibration parameters and measurement results.
• Present results to customers.
• Develop innovative methods and tools for calibration tasks.
• Support project managers and logistics in planning calibration activities.
• Participate in tests and customer meetings.

Requirements:

• Secondary college for technical education or a bachelor's/master's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automotive engineering, energy engineering, propulsion systems engineering, or similar fields.
• Several years of experience in applying and validating control unit functions, particularly in diesel engine calibration.
• Experience with diesel engine development processes, emissions legislation, and exhaust aftertreatment technologies.
• Good understanding of different vehicle systems.
• English language skills.
• Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
