Grade 7 Social Studies Teacher (26-27 SY)

Challenge Preparatory Charter School seeks a Grade 7 Social Studies Teacher for the 26-27 school year. The teacher will deliver exceptional instruction, assess student growth, and provide academic and cultural support to students.

Responsibilities:

• Assume a high level of personal responsibility for student progress
• Create academically rigorous and culturally relevant lesson plans, materials, and assessments
• Execute specially designed lesson plans with clear objectives and assess student mastery
• Teach engaging, rigorous, and relevant lessons daily
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including students, families, and staff
• Commit to a school culture of consistency and reflect on implicit biases
• Reflect on data sources to improve practice
• Take on a proactive role in creating a positive and structured school environment
• Collaborate with colleagues to create and refine schoolwide and classroom-based systems
• Ensure effective classroom management and develop strong relationships with students
• Develop and implement individualized behavioral intervention plans
• Participate in opportunities to strengthen pedagogical skills and contribute to colleague learning
• Contribute to the school's smooth operation by fulfilling administrative duties

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Education or History-related field
• New York State Teaching Certification
• Strong understanding of History and its application to real-world problems
• Experience working with high school-aged children
• Exceptional patience and focus
• Strong classroom management skills
• Detail-oriented and highly organized
