Senior Software Engineer - Core Infrastructure

Okta is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Core Engineering team, which builds and evolves shared infrastructure and services. The ideal candidate will work on designing, developing, and delivering cloud-based infrastructure projects, driving evaluation and rollout of new features and frameworks, and operating and supporting shared services.

Responsibilities:

• Work with engineering teams to design, develop, and deliver cloud-based infrastructure projects on a modern tech stack (Redis, Docker, Terraform on AWS)
• Drive evaluation, development, and rollout of new common features and frameworks
• Operate, support, and upgrade shared services and frameworks, scaling them as usage grows
• Conduct design and code reviews, ensuring high programming standards
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and fix services and frameworks
• Evaluate system performance and resolve bottlenecks
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers
• Collaborate with architects, QA, product owners, security, and operations engineers

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent; Master's preferred
• 5+ years of programming experience in an object-oriented language like Java, especially in backend services
• Solid technology chops in architecting, implementing, tuning, and debugging large cloud deployments
• Experience with multithreading, garbage collection, and memory management
• Ability to access federal environments and/or have access to protected federal data
• U.S. Person status (e.g., U.S. Citizen, National, Lawful Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee)
