As a Data Scientist at Capital One, you'll be part of a team that's unlocking big opportunities to help everyday people save money, time, and agony in their financial lives. The External Data Strategy team builds data pipelines, advanced analytics, and models to understand customers' financial lives.
In this role, you will:
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver data and insights driving the business
- Leverage technologies like Python, Conda, AWS, Databricks, and Spark to reveal insights in huge volumes of data
- Build machine learning models and data pipelines through all phases of development
- Develop deep subject matter expertise in consumer financial data
- Lead a team of 10-15 data scientists as a leader-of-leaders
- Translate complex work into tangible business goals

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science)
- 9+ years of experience performing data analytics (for Bachelor's degree)
- 7+ years of experience performing data analytics (for Master's degree or MBA)
- 4+ years of experience performing data analytics (for PhD)
- 4+ years of experience leveraging open-source programming languages for large-scale data analysis
- 4+ years of experience working with machine learning
- 4+ years of experience utilizing relational databases
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with AWS
- Experience managing people
- Experience with Python, machine learning, and Spark
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are: McLean, VA: $269,100 - $307,200 New York, NY: $293,600 - $335,100
This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation.
