Description
We are seeking a Data Center Engineer to join our team at Millennium in Mumbai, India.
As a Data Center Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day physical operation of our India datacentre facility and associated office technology rooms.
Responsibilities:
- Own the day-to-day physical operation of Millennium's India datacentre facility and associated office technology rooms, including power, cooling, space, cabling, and security.
- Perform hands-on datacentre work including racking and stacking, structured copper and fibre cabling, labelling, patching, and maintaining strong cable hygiene standards.
- Manage hardware lifecycle activities across servers, storage, and network equipment, including installations, upgrades, moves, adds, changes, and decommissioning.
- Coordinate and execute hardware replacements and RMAs with local and international vendors, while helping maintain service continuity.
- Monitor infrastructure and environmental alerts, respond to incidents, perform first-line troubleshooting, and support a 24x7 operating environment through maintenance windows and extended-hours work as needed.
- Work within established ITIL and ITSM processes for incidents, requests, and changes, while maintaining accurate asset, location, and connectivity records in platforms including ServiceNow and Nlyte.
- Support network device deployment and basic configuration under the direction of Network Engineering, including physical connectivity, VLAN validation, link checks, and basic Layer 2 and Layer 3 troubleshooting.
- Contribute to tooling, automation, and integration efforts across DCIM, monitoring, logging, CMDB, and capacity platforms, while improving runbooks, SOPs, and recurring operational processes.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in a datacentre or large-scale infrastructure environment, ideally within financial services or another mission-critical setting.
- Proven hands-on experience managing racks, cabling, hardware installations, and decommissioning across multi-cabinet environments.
- Experience supporting office technology rooms or comms rooms, including IDF and MDF environments, in addition to core datacentres.
- Strong working knowledge of datacentre power and cooling concepts, including PDUs, UPS, dual feeds, capacity management, and hot aisle or cold aisle design.
- Solid CCNA-level networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, VLANs, trunking, subnetting, basic routing, and access control concepts, with the ability to perform CLI-based troubleshooting on enterprise network devices.
- Experience working with remote management and operational tooling, including technologies such as IPMI, iDRAC, iLO, console servers, ServiceNow, Jira, and DCIM or CMDB platforms.
- Basic scripting capability in Python, PowerShell, or Bash to support task automation, reporting, and data handling.
- Strong documentation, communication, and coordination skills, with a high level of ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with local facilities teams, vendors, and global stakeholders across time zones.
