Manager, Engineering

We are looking for a Manager, Engineering to lead the development of core authentication experiences for users in the Workforce and Customer identity landscape.

As a Manager, Engineering at Okta, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ideate, design, and implement features that drive the core authentication experience for users.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage the entire lifecycle of major features from ideation to delivery
• Propose and align on technical strategy
• Contribute to technical designs, proposals, and architectural decisions
• Develop high-quality, maintainable software components
• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback
• Mentor and coach junior engineers

Requirements:

• Extensive experience working on medium to large projects in a technical capacity
• Strong hands-on experience designing and developing enterprise software using Java with Springboot
• Proficient in object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, server-side technologies, and distributed system concepts
• Skilled in debugging and troubleshooting complex Java codebase
• Passionate about writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code with a deep focus on security
• Solid experience with cloud infrastructure platforms, particularly AWS and databases
• Proven experience with Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Nice to have:

• Prior experience as TechLead
• Strong understanding of IAM protocols and identity management best practices
• Strong understanding of multi-factor authentication and phishing resistance
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices
• Some experience with JavaScript frameworks and basic UI development
