Operations Engineer (Facility Operations)

As a member of the facility operations team, you will apply your knowledge, experience, and creativity to help design, build, and activate some of the world's most technically advanced data center facilities.

Responsibilities:

• Develop internal visual standards for internal work boards, JIRA queuing, PowerBI dashboards, and department workflow
• Enhance maintenance programs to focus on poor-health hardware and eliminate unnecessary work
• Support department continuous improvement projects, such as new process rollouts and standardization
• Collaborate with all levels of the business to understand current workflows and identify systematic gaps
• Define and develop department-level metrics and associated dashboards to quantify operational health and drive change
• Conduct in-depth analyses using SQL queries and other data analysis methods to identify trends and inform decision-making
• Create reports, tools, and standardized metrics for operational measurements and improvements
• Develop automation to mitigate business risk or create efficiencies within the SpaceX factory
• Conduct department-wide operations audits to streamline repair, maintenance, and construction engineering teams
• Implement construction management or maintenance tools to reduce wasted effort by engineers and technicians
• Analyze site services to ensure smart spending on contracts and develop a roadmap for improvement
• Build communication tools and reports for factory workcell directors to enhance communication and customer service
• Standardize material library and procurement processes to reduce project lead times
• Drive alignment with maintenance and construction teams at other SpaceX sites to minimize duplicated work

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
• 1+ years of experience in operations/process improvement (internship experience qualifies)
• Experience with Excel, SQL, or Python

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Previous experience working in a critical manufacturing, data center, or production environment
• Proficiency with statistics, data analysis, data visualization, and cost-benefit analysis
• Experience with CAD software, ArcGIS, Archibus, Power BI, and JIRA
• Familiarity with inventory, production, and capacity planning (including MRP/ERP systems)
• Experience with lean, six sigma, and other related production principles
• Experience or education in management science and engineering, operations engineering, operations research, or industrial engineering
• Experience as a contributor to multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and communication skills
