Description
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology.
As a Sr. Mission Software Engineer - Undersea Reconnaissance & Strike, you will be responsible for debugging and fixing issues with autonomous underwater/surface vehicles.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Taking field-reported anomalies and figuring out what subsystem they are actually in
- Reproducing issues for real using metrics and log infrastructure
- Confirming fixes in a simulated environment before they go near a real vehicle
- Writing fixes in languages such as Rust, C++, Python, Go
- Figuring out whether the actual problem is a bug, a bad config, or a deployment mismatch
- Writing down root cause and fix for every issue closed
Requirements:
- Real experience debugging code under time pressure with incomplete information
- Comfort in at least two of Rust, modern C++, Python, Go
- Systems-debugging instincts
- Exposure to observability tooling
- Linux and systems fluency
- Ability to write up what actually happened clearly
- Willingness to work close to hardware and sensors
Nice to have:
- Robotics middleware, sensor drivers, or real-time data pipeline experience
- Time in simulation-in-the-loop or hardware-in-the-loop test setups
- CI/CD and versioned deployment experience for embedded or fleet software
- Actual on-call or field-support experience for hardware
This is a real entry point, not a holding pen. Do this well and you'll know more of the stack than most people who joined doing greenfield feature work , and that's exactly who ends up owning subsystems and driving roadmap next.
