Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Electrical Engineer (Sensors) to join our Hardware Platform team in Costa Mesa, California. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and validating proximity sensors for our autonomous vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Design, test, and validate proximity sensors for autonomous vehicles.
- Lead vehicle-level integrations and complete lifecycle design from concept to production.
- Perform full-cycle PCB design, including requirements gathering, schematic design, component selection, layout, bring-up, testing, debugging, and system integration.
- Develop system interconnect diagrams and define wire harnesses for electronic equipment.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure air vehicle subsystem development meets constraints.
- Evaluate vendors and support sourcing for system components.
- Conduct peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews.
- Test and integrate engine system components through lab, ground, and flight tests.
- Perform root cause analysis for field operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 10+ years of experience in designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs.
- Strong background in circuit design, including components and mixed-signal design.
- Experience with sensor design, build, testing, and integration.
- Design experience in UAS, power electronics, converter design, or powertrain.
- Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, and current probes.
- Familiarity with standard interfaces like CAN, I2C, SPI, etc.
- Experience with electronic CAD tools, preferably Altium.
- Experience in EMI testing.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with environmental testing for military and commercial industries.
- Previous experience designing and testing height of burst sensors for ordnance fuzing applications.
- Experience designing and testing ordnance fuzing systems.
- Background in UAS, missiles, or maritime programs.
- Familiarity with DoD Weapons Safety Boards.
- Experience designing and scaling production of components at volume.
- Experience with MIL-STD-1316, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-882E, and MIL-STD-2105.
- Knowledge of JOTP-052 and JOTP-054.
- Experience with explosive operations and handling munitions.

Salary Range
$191,000-$253,000 USD
