Deputy Head of Legal

As our Deputy Head of Legal, you will be the layer between legal strategy and the team that executes it, translating quarterly priorities into clear ownership, running the accountability cycle, and making sure only real decisions reach the Head of Legal.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the legal infrastructure, including strategy, team, AI-first operating model, and accountability.
• Develop and implement an operating model for AI tooling in contract review, T&C management, and regulatory monitoring to handle increased volume without proportional headcount growth.
• Provide the business with a clear picture of Trust & Transparency health, ensuring risks are caught early and quality remains high.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with a Master's degree in Law and a strong background in financial services.
• Experience in independently running a compliance or legal function across multiple jurisdictions.
• Direct dialogue experience with regulators and representing legal positions.
• Experience managing a small specialist legal team and setting KPIs.
• Ability to challenge senior leadership with data and translate complex regulatory risk.
• Experience designing AI systems to eliminate manual legal work at scale.
• Strong understanding of what constitutes quality work and ability to build measurable frameworks.
• Judgment in automating tasks, retaining human involvement, and escalating issues.
