Software Engineer II, Android

As a Software Engineer II, Android, you will be responsible for the technical direction, strategy, and health of our Android platform.

What you'll do:

• Be the technical point of contact for decisions that impact the whole Android platform and for cross-functional partners like recruiting, business development, and legal
• Develop strong partnerships with product teams to understand and proactively address future technology needs and current developer pain points
• Champion and drive large-scale, cross-functional initiatives that improve the Android platform
• Leverage AI to accelerate delivery and increase overall efficiency of large-scale migrations and refactoring initiatives while remaining accountable for final decisions and deliverables
• Act as the ultimate 'customer representative' for engineers on Android, including representing needs to leadership and prioritizing projects on the platform teams that ensure high-quality features and a world-class developer experience
• Scale your leadership through both direct mentorship and via best practices, processes, training, and tools
• Ensure solid technical plans are in place for projects within Android via direct review or delegation

What we're looking for:

• Deep expertise building Android systems at scale with modern frameworks
• Knowledge of (and a passion for) current trends and best practices in client architecture
• Track record of delivering large, cross-functional projects across multiple organizations
• Track record for being a champion of developer velocity and feature quality
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally
• Demonstrated ability to use AI to improve speed and quality in your day-to-day workflow for relevant outputs
• Demonstrated ability of critical evaluation and verification of AI-assisted work (e.g., testing, source-checking, data validation, peer review)
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
