Senior Software Engineer, Business Applications

Grab is Southeast Asia's leading superapp, providing various services such as food delivery, financial management, and transportation.

As a Senior Software Engineer, Business Applications, you will contribute to the development of AI-first enterprise applications and internal platforms, reporting to the Engineering Manager, Business Applications.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing, building, and maintaining production features, services, integrations, and workflow automations for internal enterprise applications.
• Managing and making sound trade-offs across quality, maintainability, security, reliability, cost, and delivery speed.
• Contributing to reusable foundations for agentic applications, including APIs, data access, identity, permissions, auditability, human escalation, and operational guardrails.
• Applying automated testing, evaluation, observability, security controls, and production monitoring throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
• Prototyping and rapidly iterating on solutions using data, user feedback, and minimum viable implementations.
• Reviewing code and technical designs, providing constructive feedback, sharing knowledge, and guiding junior engineers toward stronger engineering practices.
• Supporting production delivery and incident investigation, communicating blockers early, documenting learnings, and driving continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent evidence of operating at senior individual contributor scope.
• Experience using agentic engineering tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex, and applying emerging technologies to improve engineering productivity and product delivery.
• Understanding of APIs, databases, software design fundamentals, system dependencies, and common trade-offs in enterprise applications.
• Experience writing automated tests, improving observability, investigating production issues, and applying secure software practices.
• Ability to own a scoped project or technical outcome, resolve challenges, communicate blockers, and deliver agreed results.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders and collaboration across Product, Engineering, and business teams.

Nice to have skills:

• Experience building internal enterprise applications, business platforms, service management solutions, or workflow automation.
• Experience with AI-enabled or agentic applications, evaluation practices, tool integrations, or responsible automation.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers, leading technical discussions, or contributing to engineering standards and reusable practices.
• Experience working with distributed teams or delivering software used across multiple countries or business functions.
