Sun Life Actuarial Internship 2027

The Actuarial Internship at Sun Life Hong Kong is a 6-month full-time internship placement for students who wish to explore a career as an Actuary in Hong Kong.

Students will have the opportunities to gain hands-on experiences on various actuarial tasks and a deep dive exposure to the operations of a global leading insurance firm.

Over the 6 months full-time placement, students will be matched to one of our top-performing teams, supported by our experienced colleagues and managers on the learning and development of their journey to an Actuary.

Key actuarial tasks:

• Prepare special quotes and illustrations, regular statistical returns, and reports
• Participate in product development & implementation processes, including experience studies, market comparisons, and User Acceptance Tests (UATs)
• Maintain customer databases and prepare related statistics
• Support actuarial valuation modelling work
• Support annual experience studies
• Support preparation of reinsurance reporting and monthly valuation processes
• Support quarterly and monthly reports to monitor ALM-related risks
• Assist in analysis of ALM strategies for operating and surplus segments to optimize risk-return trade-offs

Requirements:

• Year 2–4 student in Actuarial Studies or other quantitative subjects
• Some progress in SOA Actuarial examinations or equivalent (but not required)
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, FoxPro
• Programming skills and knowledge of GGY AXIS will be an advantage
• Good analytical and communication skills
