Description
WSP is seeking a Part Time System Operator I for their Hawthorne, NY office.
The successful candidate will be involved in projects with the Mobility Operations Team, providing human monitoring and operation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) devices and other traffic control devices.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing human monitoring and operation of ITS devices and taking appropriate actions based on guidance from Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Managing traffic incidents and coordinating responses for roadway concerns
- Dispatching maintenance crews for snow/ice events and performing database entry for all activities related to incidents and special events
- Assisting in traffic data collection and troubleshooting using manual and automated data collection and surveillance features
- Identifying, troubleshooting, and documenting device failures, establishing repair priorities, and issuing work orders for repairs
- Receiving and responding to notices of roadwork, highway incidents, and special event information
- Answering phone inquiries and coordinating responses with operational partners
- Performing backups of ITS software, archiving data records, and generating reports
The ideal candidate will have:
- A high school diploma
- 0-2 years of experience in a Traffic Management Centre (TMC) type facility or traffic management
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, spreadsheets, and databases
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to work well with co-workers and NYSDOT staff
- Flexibility to maintain significant schedule flexibility to ensure consistency of HVTMC operations
