Description
Leidos Homeland Group is seeking a dynamic Material Handler in Chesapeake, VA. The selected candidate will support warehouse and logistics operations by performing material handling, receiving, packaging, inventory, and data management activities in accordance with established procedures.
The Material Handler will prepare and package parts according to specialised packaging requirements, maintain accurate shipping and receiving documentation, and perform data entry within the organisation's automated logistics and materials management systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting inventory transactions and maintaining accurate material records
- Assisting with periodic inventory and cycle count activities to ensure inventory accuracy
- Maintaining receiving files and organising warehouse cleanliness and physical order
- Monitoring shipping supply levels to ensure adequate quantities are available
- Interfacing with supervisors and team members to identify and resolve routine order discrepancies or material-related issues
The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, capable of following established processes, and able to work effectively in a team environment. The position requires the ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Materials Management: controlling the acquisition, storage, and distribution of materials
- Process Improvements: identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes
- Warehousing Operations: responsible for storage, handling, and distribution of goods within a warehouse facility
- Receiving: maintaining receiving spreadsheets and liaising with buyers to reconcile receipt discrepancies
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent and 6 years or greater of relevant experience
- Ability to lift 40 Pounds, previous warehouse experience
- General computer skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams) and data entry
- Demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with computer database systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
