Description

We are seeking a Capacity Procurement Engineer/Analyst to join our System Planning – Generation Procurement team at Southern Company's headquarters in Atlanta, GA. This role will support Georgia Power Company's capacity RFP activities through all phases of the RFP process, including design, evaluation, and commercial operation.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal partner organizations to develop and administer Request for Proposals (RFPs) for Energy Storage Systems and thermal generation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the lifecycle development and administration of capacity RFPs
  • Interfacing with internal partner organizations to design, implement, and administer capacity RFPs
  • Working directly with the Public Service Commission Staff and 3rd Party Independent Evaluator (IE) during the design, implementation, and administration of the RFP
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements and program enhancements
  • Leading efforts to track major milestones for capacity RFPs and associated projects
  • Providing regulatory support as needed
  • Fostering and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external parties

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance, or a related field, with prior experience in generation, renewables, analytics, project management, system planning, and/or operations. Demonstrated experience in project management, contract development, asset management, and/or regulatory programs is preferred.

  • Ability to interface with regulators, industry peers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and concise manner to a broad group of stakeholders
