Technical Lead – User Interface (UI) - Skate

Electronic Arts, a renowned game development company, is seeking a Technical Lead for the User Interface (UI) team on Skate.

As a Technical Lead, you will drive the evolution of the UI technology stack, aligning it with the company's direction while meeting the game's needs. You will also be a people leader, managing, mentoring, and fostering the career growth of a talented team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership & Strategy:
• Develop a UI technology vision and roadmap aligned with the future of Skate.
• Expand and improve the UI framework, systems, and workflows.
• Empower UI artists and designers to iterate rapidly without sacrificing performance or design freedom.
• Collaborate with UI/UX Design, Frostbite, and Skate Technical Leadership to ensure technical feasibility matches creative ambition.

• People Management & Culture:
• Actively manage the career growth of UI engineers, conducting regular 1:1s, setting performance goals, and delivering constructive feedback.
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and psychologically safe environment that encourages innovation, technical excellence, and continuous learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Required Experience:
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience in the gaming industry.
• 3+ years of direct experience managing technical careers, including performance reviews, promotions, and hiring.
• Deep understanding of modern UI development paradigms.
• At least one shipped AAA title in a senior or lead technical capacity, preferably covering live-service.

• Technical Profile:
• Pragmatic mindset with the ability to balance technology wants with business needs.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and familiarity with modern UI scripting languages or frameworks.
• Experience utilizing profiling tools to diagnose and resolve UI-related performance bottlenecks.
