Senior Frontend Engineer, Media

Reddit is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to help build the next version of its media web experience. You will define the technical components of delivering video and audio content, focusing on the web media player and APIs. Your goal will be to create seamless, low-latency playback experiences and interactive tools for creators and users.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to execute on product and business strategy
• Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch
• Design and implement end-to-end full-stack solutions, optimizing web UI components for the media player and backend APIs
• Balance speed with quality, ensuring fast development without compromising on bugs
• Review code and design documents, providing feedback on product specifications and mockups
• Collaborate with client engineers and platform engineers to improve media performance across Reddit
• Contribute to standards that improve developer workflows and mentor junior engineers

Qualifications:

• BS degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field
• 5+ years of professional software development experience in languages like Go, Python, Ruby, Java, or C++
• Strong proficiency in modern web development technologies, including JavaScript, React, Next.js, and TypeScript
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, gRPC, Thrift, and designing maintainable APIs
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and deliver projects on schedule
