Description
We are seeking a Senior Road Engineer to join our Roads team in Belfast. As a Senior Road Engineer, you will lead and help grow a team undertaking concept, preliminary and detailed designs for major road schemes, public transport schemes, and active travel schemes.
The successful candidate will have extensive postgraduate experience in the design and project management of road schemes and active travel schemes. You will be able to take on significant elements of design, either working on your own initiative with minimal supervision, or by taking a lead role working within multi-discipline project teams.
Responsibilities:
- Project management and provision of engineering expertise for multi-disciplinary infrastructure schemes
- Client focus, leading and attending design review and progress meetings
- Line management and mentoring of more junior staff
- Technical input and design on roads, public transport, and active travel projects
- Undertaking and supervising alignment design and modelling using Civil 3D software and integration into BIM
- Application of relevant standards, including DMRB and Transport Infrastructure Ireland
- Preparation of NEC Contracts, Public Works contracts, tender documents, project budgeting, and construction cost estimating
- Preparation of reports throughout a project lifecycle
- Responsibility for technical checking and design reviews
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation and in-house quality assurance standards/processes
Requirements:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or another appropriate subject
- Incorporated or Chartered Status (AMIEI/MIEI or equivalent)
- Clear and successful project management skills and technical competence in highway engineering
- Experience of dealing with clients and project stakeholders
- Experience of contract preparation or contract administration/site supervision using Public Works contract
- Managing, guiding, and mentoring junior members of staff
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to take a senior role in ensuring compliance with Health & Safety considerations
