Description
We are seeking a highly motivated intern to join our team in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany. As an Intern - Robotics, AI & HiL Validation in the Automotive Environment, you will work on planning, setting up, and commissioning Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) test benches using dSPACE (e.g., ControlDesk) and automated test environments (e.g., ECU-TEST).
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the development and integration of ROS2 nodes in C++ and Python, as well as middleware on high-performance edge hardware (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson Orin) under Linux
- Assisting in the development and testing of perception and control algorithms using computer vision (OpenCV) and machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch)
- Integrating and controlling robot systems (e.g., Universal Robots/UR) and automotive interfaces and bus systems (CAN, FlexRay, Ethernet)
- Planning, conducting, and documenting functional and system tests on test benches and test vehicles
- Creating and further developing AI tools for automating development and test processes
To be successful in this role, you should:
- Be currently studying robotics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, computer science, automation technology, or a related field
- Have good knowledge of the ROS2 robotics framework, experience with Linux systems, and programming skills in C++ and Python
- Possess initial experiences in embedded high-performance computing (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson Orin) and/or with industrial robots (e.g., Universal Robots/UR)
- Have practical experience in computer vision (e.g., OpenCV) and machine learning/deep learning (e.g., PyTorch)
- Understand HiL test environments and tools like dSPACE ControlDesk, ECU-TEST, and automotive bus systems (CAN, FlexRay)
- Be proficient in German at a minimum B2 level and ideally have good English language skills
- Demonstrate a self-motivated and structured work style, as well as excellent teamwork and communication skills
The internship will last for 6 months, starting from October 2026, with a working time of 35 hours per week. A valid residence permit with work permit is required.
