Description

GitLab is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Agent Execution group, responsible for leading a team of over 10 engineers who build foundations for AI agents to run safely and effectively across GitLab.

The successful candidate will lead the Agent Tools, Agent Observability, and Runner Execution teams, contributing to design reviews, establishing practical standards for AI tools, and coaching engineers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading distributed engineering teams and working through technical leads and staff-level engineers
  • Growing the group by hiring, onboarding, coaching, and developing engineers
  • Partnering with product and UX to turn ambiguous problems into shipped milestones
  • Contributing to technical design for running agents safely and effectively at scale
  • Establishing practical standards for AI tools
  • Coaching engineers through ambiguity in a fast-changing technical space
  • Representing the group across GitLab's AI organization

The ideal candidate will have experience managing distributed engineering teams, technical judgment developed through hands-on engineering experience, and fluency with modern AI coding tools and agent harnesses.
