Job Description

As a Senior Backend Engineer (IoT) you will join a talented product team dedicated to developing and maintaining the Toniecloud IoT services. Your focus will be on continuous discovery, usability, quality and security, ensuring a top-tier experience for our millions of users worldwide.

Responsibilities

You will take charge of developing and maintaining our Toniecloud IoT services, ensuring they meet the needs of millions of users. You will play a key role in our Toniecloud ecosystem, which includes a robust django backend platform offering RESTful and GraphQL APIs, and an IoT messaging stack that processes technical diagnostic data from millions of Tonieboxes around the globe.

Your tasks and responsibilities will include:

• Developing and maintaining our Toniecloud IoT services
• Ensuring reliability, with services available 24/7, 365 days a year, and helping achieve our 99.99% SLA
• Collaborating within a cross-functional team to deliver seamless, always-on services
• Working closely with the Product Manager and team members to ensure a fantastic user experience

Requirements

• Passionate software engineer with a track record in building or maintaining backends for IoT products
• Fluent in at least two programming languages, one of them being Python
• Experience with Django is essential
• Code is lean, well-structured and easy to understand
• Familiar with database systems, ideally PostgreSQL
• Linux is your preferred environment and working with Git and GitLab is part of your daily routine
• Work style characterised by agility, teamwork, independence and creativity
• Placing great importance on automated tests, CI/CD, and observability
• Comfortable communicating in English in a professional work environment
• Currently based in Germany
