We are seeking a Senior Technical Artist (Rigging) to join our EA SPORTS Technology team at Electronic Arts in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This is a temporary position expected to last 12 months, with the possibility of longer-term employment.
As a Senior Technical Artist (Rigging), you will collaborate with Art Directors, Development Directors, Artists, and Engineers to achieve high-fidelity deformation content for EA Sports games. Your responsibilities will include refining and improving workflows to tackle technical challenges and increase efficiency, leveraging common technology and implementing techniques to solve character animation and deformation challenges, and partnering with leadership to implement new initiatives and mentor newer artists.
To qualify, you should have 5+ years of games production experience working in technical art, rigging, or animation, with a bachelor's degree in a related field. You should have expert knowledge of designing complex skeletons, control rigs, secondary animation, and skin deformations, as well as strong understanding of human anatomy and animation principles. Proficiency in 3D software packages such as Maya and Houdini is required, along with experience with asset optimization challenges and real-time limitations specific to character deformation. Scripting and programming skills in Python are essential, with C++/C# being a bonus.
