Description
We're looking for a Game Designer I to help craft engaging features, live events, and economy experiences for Golf Clash.
As a Game Designer I, you will own small to mid-sized assignments, contribute to live-service feature development, and help improve the player journey through clear design thinking, strong documentation, tuning, and cross-discipline collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Own and deliver small to mid-sized features, content, live ops elements, and tuning tasks for Golf Clash.
- Support the design of self-contained live events, including event rules, reward structures, progression, pacing, and player-facing requirements.
- Contribute to systems and economy design work across areas such as coin wagering, Club Cards, rewards, progression, and new-to-mid game player experience.
- Build clear design documentation with goals, requirements, dependencies, edge cases, tuning values, and implementation notes.
- Partner with leads to ensure feature goals, success criteria, player motivations, and technical constraints are clearly understood.
- Use internal tools and GameData structures to implement, tune, validate, and iterate on features and content.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, analytics, UX, art, production, and QA/QV teams throughout development.
- Support playtests, UX reviews, feedback loops, and tuning passes to improve feature quality before and after launch.
- Review telemetry, player feedback, and qualitative playtest results to identify issues and propose practical improvements.
- Research comparable mobile F2P and casual games, including event structures, leaderboards, matchmaking flows, reward loops, and surfacing patterns.
- Proactively identify risks, blockers, unclear requirements, and player experience concerns, escalating them with recommended next steps.
- Play Golf Clash regularly to build deep familiarity with its systems, meta, economy, player journey, and live-service expectations.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of game design experience.
- Experience working on mobile F2P games from concept through live service.
- Proficiency in at least one core design domain, with developing skills across systems, economy, content, features, or live ops.
- Ability to prototype, tune, and iterate features or content to meet design goals, quality standards, and KPIs.
- Familiarity with Game Data systems, internal tools, design documentation, and design-to-engineering workflows.
- Strong understanding of player motivations, progression, pacing, game balance, and live-service content expectations.
- Ability to analyze player experience, identify friction points, and propose practical design solutions.
- Comfort working with metrics, telemetry, playtest feedback, and qualitative insights to guide iteration.
- Strong communication, documentation, prioritization, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to own work independently while partnering with leads for alignment, feedback, and escalation.
- Curiosity for competitive research and a willingness to learn from modern mobile, casual, and live-service games.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working on systems or economy design for mobile F2P games.
- Experience designing live events, reward loops, leaderboards, progression systems, or matchmaking-adjacent systems.
- Experience with sports, skill-based PvP, or competitive multiplayer games.
- Familiarity with Unity, Perforce, scripting, XML, or proprietary game data tools.
- Interest in golf, mobile sports games, competitive casual games, and long-running live services.
