Description
We're looking for a Game Designer II to own and drive medium to large-scale systems, economy features, and live-service improvements for Golf Clash.
You will act as a key design owner for interconnected gameplay and economy areas, guiding features from concept through launch and post-launch iteration.
Responsibilities:
- Own and deliver medium to large-scale features, systems, economy improvements, and live-service initiatives for Golf Clash.
- Design and iterate on systems that support the new-to-mid game journey, reducing friction while maintaining long-term depth and progression.
- Lead or co-lead the design of live events, including event structure, pacing, rewards, player segmentation, leaderboards, matchmaking rules, and surfacing logic.
- Define and tune economy systems such as coin wagering, Club Cards, reward sources, sinks, progression flows, and player value exchange.
- Create high-quality design documentation that communicates goals, player motivations, requirements, dependencies, edge cases, success metrics, and tuning rationale.
- Break down complex systems into clear, manageable deliverables and align partner teams on implementation strategy.
- Set or refine feature-level KPIs in collaboration with product, analytics, and design leadership.
- Use telemetry, playtest results, player sentiment, and competitive research to guide tuning, prioritization, and post-launch iteration.
- Partner with engineering, UX, art, product, analytics, QA/QV, and production to ensure features are feasible, polished, scalable, and delivered to quality.
- Identify cross-system dependencies and clearly communicate the impact of tuning changes across economy, progression, matchmaking, rewards, and live ops.
- Review peer designs, provide actionable feedback, and help maintain quality and consistency across Golf Clash features.
- Mentor junior designers through design reviews, documentation feedback, tuning discussions, and implementation best practices.
- Conduct competitive teardowns of modern mobile F2P and casual games, translating relevant insights into actionable opportunities for Golf Clash.
- Proactively surface risks, blockers, ambiguous requirements, technical dependencies, and quality concerns with recommended solutions.
- Play and evaluate Golf Clash regularly to maintain deep system knowledge, understand player pain points, and identify opportunities to improve the live experience.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of game design experience, ideally on mobile F2P or live-service games.
- Proven experience owning systems, economy features, live events, progression, or player journey improvements from concept through live operation.
- Strong systems and economy design skills, with the ability to understand how changes impact player behavior, game balance, retention, engagement, and monetization.
- Experience defining feature goals, player problems, hypotheses, success metrics, tuning plans, and post-launch iteration needs.
- Ability to design and tune interconnected systems using metrics, telemetry, playtest feedback, and player sentiment.
- Familiarity with Game Data systems, proprietary tools, design/engineering contracts, and implementation workflows.
- Strong documentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex systems clearly to technical and non-technical partners.
- Ability to lead cross-discipline design discussions, resolve ambiguity, and drive alignment across partner teams.
- Experience reviewing designs, giving constructive feedback, and mentoring junior designers.
- Strong understanding of mobile F2P player motivations, live ops pacing, progression, reward loops, feature surfacing, and economy balance.
- Ability to evaluate competitive products and apply relevant learnings to a live-service roadmap.
- High ownership, clear communication, proactive risk management, and strong collaboration skills.
Nice to Have:
- Deep experience in economy design, progression design, matchmaking systems, leaderboard design, or event frameworks.
- Experience designing live events similar to modern casual F2P games, including self-contained competition loops and reward structures.
- Experience improving onboarding, early game, new-to-mid game, or returning player journeys.
- Experience with A/B testing, segmentation, telemetry dashboards, and KPI-driven feature iteration.
- Familiarity with Unity, Perforce, scripting, XML, SQL, analytics tools, or proprietary GameData workflows.
- Experience on sports, competitive multiplayer, skill-based PvP, or long-running mobile live-service games.
