Description
Plant McManus, located in Brunswick, GA, is seeking a highly skilled General Plant Operator (GPO) to operate and maintain its Combustion Turbine power plant.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of combustion turbine units, monitoring and operating plant equipment, responding to changing system conditions, performing routine inspections, supporting maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
The GPO will work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and compliance teams to maximize plant performance, reliability, and availability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating and monitoring power plant equipment and systems
- Performing routine plant inspections and equipment rounds
- Responding to alarms and abnormal conditions
- Executing plant startup, shutdown, and switching activities
- Supporting preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and outage activities
- Administering Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and other safe work practices
- Identifying equipment issues and troubleshooting problems
Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- 2-year college/technical degree or equivalent military training preferred
- Experience operating combustion turbine, combined cycle, or fossil steam boiler-turbine highly desired
- Industrial electrical and mechanical maintenance experience or certified training desired
- Ability to learn to operate a combustion turbine plant independently
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance aptitude
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Ability to support a 24/7 shift schedule, including night, weekend, holiday, and overtime work
