Engineering Manager, Finance Engineering

About the Role

Anthropic's finance engineering team needs an Engineering Manager to lead the development of a platform for finance events. This involves building a front door for finance events, an append-only ledger, and an accounting engine. The successful candidate will hire and grow the team, ensuring high-quality engineering and production standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of engineers, focusing on hiring, coaching, and setting high engineering standards.
• Own the delivery of the front door for finance events, governed contracts, accounting ledger, and engine.
• Ensure accountability for production services used by other engineering teams.
• Provide platform support for finance applications and agents.
• Define and maintain high reliability and correctness standards.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders on technical design, data contracts, and APIs.
• Reduce the time it takes for finance to support new products or programs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience leading teams building high-volume backend systems where correctness matters.
• Knowledge of event-driven systems with idempotent processing.
• Sound judgment on platform boundaries, data contracts, and API design.
• Experience hiring and growing engineers and setting engineering standards.
• Ability to work across functions with various stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering management experience.
• Experience building developer platforms or working with Go and streaming systems.
• Familiarity with LLMs, agents, and double-entry accounting.
• Experience with audit and compliance work.

Logistics

• Annual salary: $320,000 - $405,000 USD.
• Location-based hybrid policy: 25% office time.
• Visa sponsorship available.
