Description

As a Physics Engineer at Electronic Arts, you will report to the team Tech Lead and work with our talented team to improve the realism and scalability of physics systems across world-renowned franchises.

You will collaborate with us to deliver immersive gameplay experiences for millions of players, supporting our commitment to creativity, inclusivity, and positive play.

Responsibilities:

  • Improve physics system scalability to support multiple platforms, including PC, console, and mobile.
  • Diagnose CPU bottlenecks and profile memory to ensure physics calculations run smoothly at 60+ FPS for seamless gameplay.
  • Tune collision detection, ragdoll physics, and rigid body dynamics so objects and characters behave realistically in our games.
  • Use profiling tools to analyze and fix physics glitches, collaborating with animators and game designers to enhance gameplay.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of experience developing real-time physics systems for games or interactive applications.
  • Experience with C++ and physics engines such as Chaos, Havok, PhysX, Bullet, or proprietary solutions.
  • Experience diagnosing performance issues and improving physics calculations for games running at 60+ FPS.
  • Strong skills in performance and memory profiling and trace analysis using PIX or similar tools.
  • Frostbite knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience shipping games on multiple platforms is a plus.
