Staff Software Engineer (Platform)

As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll own the platformization roadmap for shared services, architecting a plan to decouple existing functionality into highly reusable services.

Your impactful work helps improve Dialpad’s developer experience, productivity, security, and scalability.

Responsibilities:

• Define a 1-3 year roadmap/vision for Shared Services.
• Write clear and complete architectural design documents that are easily understood by other team members.
• Provide estimates on technical resources and requirements necessary to plan and begin projects.
• Take responsibility for the execution of the Shared Services platformization projects.
• Develop well-tested features with appropriate test hooks resulting in low defect reports and faster engineering throughput.
• Be widely recognized as the technical expert for a product area.
• Review technical designs to ensure features/products are well integrated and fully meet business needs.
• Give larger scale internal demos on new features that you have completed and explain how they fit into the bigger picture.

Requirements:

• As an experienced backend-focused software engineer, you drive software delivery & operational excellence by turning well-defined business objectives into software systems.
• Deep experience (with examples) of architecting complex systems across multiple roles throughout your career.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience working with distributed systems.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with highly agile and iterative development processes.
• Experience mentoring engineers and helping them grow their skills.
