Lead Software Engineer, Backend

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to be the technical leader of the Partner Integration team at Grab. You will oversee the architecture of a public, partner-facing API platform, turning ambiguous problems into technical direction for the team, and leading projects that span several teams.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the technical direction of the Partner Integration service
• Design public API contracts that last
• Oversee reliability, scalability, and cost
• Lead operations and incident response
• Be the Engineering Owner for cross-team projects
• Partner across departments and with external engineers
• Raise the standards for the team

Qualifications:

• At least 8 years of backend software engineering experience
• Solid expertise in at least one backend language such as Go, Java, Scala, or C++
• Experience designing and running external-facing APIs or integration platforms used by third parties
• Distributed systems experience with microservices, asynchronous messaging, and data at scale
• Operational excellence with experience owning production services on AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Technical leadership with experience leading technical work with several teams
• Good communication skills for leading clear conversations and discussions
