Description
Aramco is looking for a Minerals Exploration & Mining technical advisor to work part of the technical team within Aramco Minerals organization under Upstream Business Line.
In this critical role, you will advise the team to identify and evaluate new mineral deposits that will drive future growth. You will design and implement comprehensive exploration programs, utilizing advanced geological, geophysical, and geochemical methods to pinpoint areas with high potential and prioritize targets based on economic viability. Conducting metallurgical testing and interpreting complex datasets requires a strong understanding of crustal evolution, regional structural geology and basin modeling processes, to guide exploration and exploitation strategies. Some fieldwork, including site visits, will involve collecting and analyzing samples and data to assess mineral resource quality and quantity, informing strategic decision-making. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team will focus on interpreting findings and developing recommendations for further exploration or development. Providing technical guidance to junior team members and implementing QA/QC protocols ensures high-quality data.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing comprehensive exploration and mining strategies and programs that align with company objectives and goals.
- Identifying high-potential target areas through meticulous analysis of geological, geophysical, and geochemical data, utilizing techniques such as remote sensing, airborne surveys, and ground-based investigations.
- Conducting metallurgical testing and analysis to determine ore characteristics, mineralogy, and extractability, informing decision-making on optimal extraction methods.
- Interpreting geological data, including mapping, logging, and sampling results, to provide actionable insights on mining method selection, reserve estimation, and resource optimization.
- Possessing a strong understanding of Mineral System concept and how to use crustal evolution, regional structural geology and basin modeling processes, enabling identification of different play concepts and application of this knowledge to guide exploration and exploitation strategies.
- Advising on sampling process for soil, rock, and core samples and preparing comprehensive reports and presentations on exploration findings.
- Strong understanding of mineralogy, metallurgical principles and exploration techniques and mineral deposit models.
- Planning and executing drilling campaigns to gather data for exploration, infill, and extension purposes.
- Utilizing GIS and modeling software for data visualization and analysis to support exploration and mining decisions.
- Working closely with geologists, environmental scientists, and other engineers to achieve shared goals.
- Preparing clear, concise, and informative reports and presentations summarizing exploration findings, highlighting key discoveries, challenges, and recommendations for future work.
- Developing and maintaining accurate deposit models to inform mine planning, reserve estimation, and resource optimization.
- Implementing and monitoring QA/QC protocols to guarantee high-quality data and minimize errors.
- Utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and 3D modeling software to visualize and analyze large datasets, identify trends and patterns.
- Preparing technical reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing technical guidance to junior team members.
- Ensuring all processing activities comply with environmental and safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within the team.
Minimum requirements include:
- A Bachelor degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field. MSc qualification in geoscience or engineering is preferred.
- 15 years of experience, with at least 5-10 years in mineral exploration or a similar role.
- Experience working in the field.
- The ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams and to work with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstration of technical contribution in Mineral industry through reputable international publications, technology patents and mentoring programs for young engineers.
- Proficient in geological mapping and modeling software, and exploration data analysis tools.
- Ability to work in remote locations and adapt to challenging field conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
