Environmental & Gas Operative

We are seeking an Environmental & Gas Operative to join our team in the south region. As an Environmental & Gas Operative, you will undertake environmental monitoring of various landfill sites, data interpretation and reporting in accordance with the site permit, as well as gas field balancing, maintenance, and gas compound management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake environmental monitoring, data interpretation, and reporting in accordance with the site permit and Biffa instructions
• Undertake gas field monitoring, balancing, and maintenance
• Manage the landfill gas compound to ensure that power generation is maximised
• Undertake all duties in accordance with Health and Safety policies, guidance notes, and training
• Work closely with and collaborate with landfill operational colleagues
• Supervise and manage contractors that work on specific areas relating to this role
• Collect, understand, collate, and prepare data as required to monitor the overall business performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement these in collaboration with Management
• Out of hours emergency assistance for gas generation issues
• Carry out such reasonable tasks as might be required by the Company from time to time.

Requirements:

• Basic computer literacy
• Able to travel, may be asked to stay away from home on rare occasions
• Driving licence - Driving is a large part of the role, you will sometimes be required to drive to more than one site in a day
• Happy to lone work – Some of our closed sites are unattended
• Expected to work in all weathers – A large part of the role is working outside
