Public Sector Sales Lead

Job Overview

As Anthropic's Public Sector Sales Lead for France, you will be the primary representative of Anthropic to the French State. This is a founding role, responsible for building the public sector team in France from scratch. You will develop the strategy, establish routes to market, and form initial strategic relationships. Reporting to the EMEA South leadership, you will drive the adoption of safe and advanced AI across central government, starting with the largest ministries.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and own Anthropic's public sector go-to-market strategy for France, defining where to play first, how to win, and what needs to be built
• Serve as the senior face of Anthropic to the French State, building trusted relationships with ministerial cabinets, senior officials, and digital and technology leaders
• Manage the full sales cycle for strategic public sector opportunities, from initial engagement to procurement, close, deployment, and expansion
• Collaborate with Partnerships, Legal, and Finance to establish market access frameworks required by the State
• Work closely with the Public Policy lead in France to align commercial and policy engagement
• Lead discussions with customers on data sovereignty, security, and compliance
• Prove value to customers alongside Applied AI architects, cloud providers, and systems integrators
• Learn from and contribute to UK and US public sector teams
• Create playbooks, references, and operating rhythms for scaling a public sector team in France

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in enterprise technology sales, including significant time managing a public sector business unit or leading sales teams selling to French central government
• Appetite to move from a leadership role to a hands-on senior individual contributor role with no initial team
• Track record of thriving in zero-to-one environments, such as new markets or early-stage companies
• Experience securing large, complex agreements with major ministries
• Deep network across central government and credibility to engage at director and cabinet levels
• Practical knowledge of French public procurement, data sovereignty, security, and compliance requirements
• Fluency in French and English, with excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Willingness to undergo French security clearance if required
• Genuine commitment to safe and beneficial AI

Logistics

• Annual Salary: €310,000 - €380,000 EUR
• Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

• Location-based hybrid policy: Staff expected to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time
