The Buyer – Ultracapacitors & Power Electronics will lead purchasing and sourcing activities supporting Ford’s Digital Technology and Electrified Systems Supply Chain. The role will support internal combustion, hybrid, and electrified vehicle programs, with responsibility for competitive cost, sourcing, timing, and supplier performance.

The role will collaborate with global suppliers and Ford teams across North America, Europe, and China, as well as CAF (Ford/Changan joint venture) and Ford Otosan.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead sourcing and purchasing for Power Electronics and Energy Modules, including EPAS, EBB, EMB, and UCAP (Ultracapacitors).
  • Develop and execute commodity sourcing strategies, business plans, RFQs, supplier negotiations, selections, and sourcing contracts.
  • Deliver sourcing solutions that meet program timing, cost, and business objectives, including Best Cost at Job 1 and annual TVM reductions where required.
  • Analyze supplier cost structures, including BOM, manufacturing cost drivers, tooling/capital, process efficiency, OCEs, and cost gaps.
  • Prepare and present Sourcing packages to Supply Chain Executive Management in support of the Commodity.
  • Drive supplier cost and data transparency to enable fact-based negotiations and competitive sourcing decisions.
  • Partner with Engineering and other cross-functional teams to optimize product designs, processes, costs, and sourcing strategies.
  • Manage sourcing activities across current and future vehicle programs and identify opportunities within existing programs.
  • Apply program and project management disciplines to manage timing, deliverables, risks, issues, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Collaborate with global Purchasing counterparts to develop and maintain commodity strategies and competitive intelligence.
  • Leverage AI tooling, data analytics, and emerging technologies to improve cost analysis, market intelligence, sourcing decisions, and purchasing processes.
  • Travel as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing, strategic sourcing, supply chain, or a related commercial function within the automotive, electronics, or manufacturing industry.
  • Experience leveraging AI tooling, data analytics, or emerging technologies to improve sourcing, cost analysis, market intelligence, or business processes.
  • Experience with program/project management, managing multiple priorities, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, planning, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of purchasing policies, processes, and tools/systems.
  • Technical understanding of product architecture, manufacturing processes, cost drivers, and supplier economics.
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements and effectively balance internal, supplier, and program expectations.

Salary:

  • This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900.
  • This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
