Job Overview
As the Product Policy Manager for Product Risk at Anthropic, you will play a crucial role in setting and executing the Safeguards team's approach to assessing product launches for safety risks. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand upcoming features, anticipate potential misuses, and craft policies that balance innovation with responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain risk assessment frameworks to identify potential safety risks associated with new product features.
- Conduct comprehensive product safety reviews to inform product launch and safety mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including product and engineering teams, to leverage policy, enforcement, and engineering expertise.
- Analyze potential misuses and translate analysis into mitigation strategies.
- Design bespoke evaluations for products requiring tailored assessments.
- Craft policy recommendations balancing innovation and responsibility.
- Stay current on industry trends and emerging risks in AI development.
- Contribute to reports on product policy risks and mitigations for senior leadership.
Requirements
- Strong technical background with ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Understanding of safety policies and considerations across various product surfaces.
- Experience prioritizing safety mitigations in high-volume launch processes.
- Conducted risk evaluations of novel products in fast-moving organizations.
- Expertise collaborating with product and engineering teams on safety considerations.
- Thorough understanding of AI ethics, responsible AI principles, and AI safety debates.
- Ability to think creatively about potential misuses and develop innovative solutions.
- Strong program management skills with ability to drive policy development processes.

- Annual salary: $245,000 - $285,000 USD.
- Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
