Description
We are seeking a Netting Lawyer VP in Markets Legal to provide senior legal support to the global Markets business. You will play a key role in advising senior management stakeholders in Legal, Risk and Finance on multi-faceted legal matters that impact Barclays' trading activities worldwide.
The purpose of this role is to ensure that the activities of the business units in the Markets division are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and to help the bank manage legal risk associated with these activities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement best practice legal strategies to manage compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
- Provide legal advice and support to the business units in the Markets division on matters arising from the relevant products/services provided by the Markets division.
- Offer subject matter support in the Legal department's representation of the bank in legal proceedings related to the Markets business units.
- Create and review legal documents for the business units in the Markets division to ensure the bank's compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to stay up to date on changes in applicable laws, rules and regulations that may impact the activities of the bank's Markets business units.
- Develop and deliver training programmes to educate employees on legal and regulatory requirements related to the activities of the Markets business units.
- Pro-actively identify, communicate, and provide legal advice on applicable laws, rules and regulations.

Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer with significant experience gained in private practice and/or in-house legal functions.
- Considerable commercial judgment, technical legal expertise, and the ability to advise senior stakeholders on complex legal and regulatory matters.
- Prior knowledge and experience of one or more of the following: derivatives and securities financing master trading agreements, bankruptcy/insolvency law, regulatory capital requirements.

- Being comfortable delivering advice effectively to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
Salary: $200,000 - $290,000 per year.
