RN Clinical Nurse II - HS Postpartum

UNC Holly Springs Women's and Children's Services, 5 Bed Tower, is a 12-bed unit that cares for women and their newborns recovering from delivery, minor gyn surgeries, and stable antepartum patients. The unit provides couplet care for 3 couplets in a Level II Birthing Center, performs assessments, evaluates educational needs, and provides support throughout the mother and baby's stay. The role requires providing competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards, coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and patients
• Assess readiness to learn of patients and families
• Develop and implement plans of care
• Perform bedside point of care testing as required
• Utilize healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in delivery of care
• Prioritize care according to patient and family needs
• Consult with resources in a timely fashion regarding complex care issues
• Participate in evaluation of patient care and promote continuity of care
• Provide education and support to patients and families
• Develop relationships with families that promote their ability to advocate for the patient and their own needs

Requirements:

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
• One year of nursing experience
• Preferred: 2 years of postpartum or women's services experience
