As a Unit Lead, you will oversee unit/plant operations, ensuring adherence to established timing, quality, and cost standards, as well as personnel management. Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning, staffing, organizing, and supervising personnel
- Managing personnel administrative tasks and disciplinary measures
- Ensuring the proper functioning of facilities and the attainment of production goals set by plant management
- Facilitating training on production processes and optimizations
- Providing orientation for new hires
- Resolving production disturbances
- Communicating and sharing information within the unit and with key interfaces regarding production goals and facility changes
- Documenting current production processes versus standard production requirements
- Maintaining housekeeping of the workplace
The primary responsibilities of this role, Unit Lead are:
- Fostering collaboration in a flat network of autonomous entrepreneurial teams called squads
- Supporting Unit and Squad's focus on mission to deliver beneficial outcomes for all team members, customers, and stakeholders
- Adding value by supporting the Unit/Squad development and delivering the best product & customer experience
- Driving a culture of innovation by encouraging teams to generate, evaluate, and rapidly implement creative ideas
- Enabling squads to run daily production activities, execute daily production schedule, and deliver the best product & customer experience
- Being an escalation point for tasks and projects prioritization, problem solving, continuous improvement, conflict resolution, displaying VACC behaviors and prioritizing the squad's self-organisation first
- Optimizing squad members' performance, development, and empowerment through DSO principles
- Promoting onePSS activities by collaborating with partners/experts outside of the Unit
- Collaborating with internal & external networks to ensure that the unit is receiving the support/resources they need to be successful
- Promoting fluid talent and resource utilization within the Unit, being outcome-oriented
- Ensuring Unit compliance while empowering the squads as much as possible
- Modeling VACC behaviors
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior experience in manufacturing operations, technical support or safety
- Skilled at leading, managing conflict and negotiating with cross-functional teams
- Leadership experience in manufacturing, supply chain, agriculture industry
- Basic user knowledge of standard computer programs (Internet, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, tablets/smart devices)
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical
- Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons or when business needs require it
- Willingness and Ability to work multiple shifts (Days or Nights)
Preferred qualifications:
- BS in agriculture, engineering disciplines, Supply Chain Management or similar degree and a minimum of 5 years of applicable experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent with 8 years of applicable experience
- 5+ years' experience in managing and developing teams
- Ability to empower and hold others accountable
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $100,480.00 and $150,720.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission. Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.
