Senior Software Engineer, Payments Platform

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Airbnb Payments team, which supports the company's mission to create a world where anyone can belong anywhere. The team builds and maintains a global payments platform that handles billions of dollars in transactions across 191 countries and 75 currencies.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Payments Platform, you will work on multi-team technical initiatives, architect and implement complex features, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance Airbnb's engineering processes and technical foundations. You will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of the team's technical strategy.

Responsibilities:

• Work on multi-team technical initiatives and identify opportunities for business impact
• Architect and implement complex features, focusing on data-driven decision making and performance optimizations
• Collaborate with product, data science, and operations teams to understand and react to evolving business needs
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
• Contribute to the development of the team's technical strategy

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in a hands-on software engineering role
• 1+ years of relevant industry experience (Payments/Fintech) as a backend software engineer
• Experience leading design, implementation, and deployment of high-scale, cross-functional payment systems
• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in CS or equivalent experience
• Technical leadership experience, including hands-on experience leading project teams and mentoring engineers
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
