Description
Library Page positions are educational opportunities for students currently enrolled in an accredited program.
The Jerome Robbins Dance Division, part of the New York Public Library, is the largest dance archive and library globally, providing reference services and public programming.
As a Library Page in the Dance Division, you will support collection maintenance, exhibitions, and public services, primarily with General Research and Special Collections.
This part-time position, scheduled for 19 hours per week, includes evenings and Saturdays, and offers access to the Library Page Fellowship Program for career development.
Key Responsibilities
- Retrieve and shelf Special Collections materials, including archival and manuscript items.
- Rehouse and reshelf fragile materials such as papers, photographs, and original artworks.
- Shelf-read Special Collections and General Research holdings.
- Assist in preparing materials for exhibitions, processing, and off-site storage.
- Prepare materials for use in the Special Collections Reading Room.
- Perform general office duties, including photocopying and messaging.
Required Education & Experience
- Currently enrolled as a student in an accredited degree program.
- Proper employment certificate for minors under 18 as required by NYS law.
Required Skills
- Interest in dance and/or performing arts.
- Computer skills, including Google Suite and web searching.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to accurately sort and arrange items in alphanumeric order.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Demonstrated professionalism, flexibility, reliability, and initiative.
Physical Duties
- Moderate lifting required (up to 25 lbs).
- Pushing book trucks.
