Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Connect team at Tanium, you will own how Tanium data reaches the rest of customers' tools.

The Connect team is responsible for moving endpoint data and events out of Tanium and into external systems such as SIEMs, data warehouses, ticketing systems, cloud storage, and email.

You will design and build scalable, reliable backend services in Node.js and Golang that collect, transform, and deliver large volumes of endpoint data to external destinations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and evolving APIs with clear contracts, versioning, and backward compatibility
• Building and maintaining integrations with third-party platforms, handling authentication methods, rate limits, payload formats, and failure behavior
• Ensuring delivery guarantees, including retries, backoff, deduplication, and back-pressure
• Building event-driven workflows using NATS and Temporal
• Leading technical design for new Connect capabilities and driving decisions across teams
• Improving observability with metrics, logs, tracing, and alerting
• Writing unit tests and partnering with QA and automation teams on integration and end-to-end coverage
• Debugging production issues and finding root causes
• Mentoring engineers and setting team standards for design, testing, and operations

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 8+ years building and running backend services in production
• Strong proficiency in Golang or Node.js, with willingness to work in both
• Experience designing APIs and building event-driven systems
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs and SaaS products
• Experience with containers and cloud, including Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Azure or AWS
• Experience with SQL or NoSQL data stores, git, and CI/CD pipelines
• Proficient with AI-assisted development tools
• Eligible to obtain FedRAMP clearance

Nice to have:

• Experience with NATS or Temporal
• Experience with SIEM or ITSM platforms
• Experience with React or TypeScript, or building multi-tenant SaaS services
