As a Staff Software Engineer at Tenable, you will solve some of the team's toughest technical problems and build solutions that hold up as the product grows. You will partner with product managers, architects, and other engineers on technical approach and planning, contributing perspectives that can extend beyond your immediate area when it's useful. You will act as a go-to technical resource for complex design and architecture questions, helping ensure solutions hold up against business needs, compliance standards, and long-term maintainability.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Solving some of the team's toughest technical problems and building solutions that hold up as the product grows
- Partnering with product managers, architects, and other engineers on technical approach and planning
- Acting as a go-to technical resource for complex design and architecture questions
- Taking ownership of the most complex technical issues that come up in your systems, driving root cause analysis and fixes that hold up over time
- Mentoring other engineers through code review, design discussions, and everyday guidance
You will also have the opportunity to:

- Work with a high degree of independence on complex technical initiatives
- Help shape automation, testing, and deployment practices that raise the bar for reliability and velocity
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A BSc in Computer Science or an equivalent degree from a recognised institution, or an exceptional track record in server-side development with advanced technical expertise
- 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a demonstrated ability to take on complex, ambiguous problems independently and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes
- Deep expertise in one or more programming languages such as C/C++, C#, Java, Go, Python
- Extensive experience building highly scalable, distributed systems, with a strong understanding of microservices architecture, API design, and cloud-native development
- Demonstrated success designing and deploying services at scale on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
