Description
We are looking for an engineer who is naturally curious, relentlessly analytical, and driven to understand how things actually work. The ideal candidate is the person with the home lab, the engineer who takes systems apart to understand them, researches the problem until they find the answer, and is never satisfied with “that's just how it works.”
This is not a traditional single-system engineering role. You will work across a large enterprise environment spanning 28 IT engineering disciplines, helping solve complex operational problems, develop new capabilities, automate processes, and improve the effectiveness, security, and compliance of systems supporting tens of thousands of devices and users.
Responsibilities:
- Solve the hard problems. Investigate complex enterprise IT issues, identify root causes, research potential solutions, test hypotheses, and stay with a problem until you understand it and can recommend a path forward.
- Think at enterprise scale. Design and improve capabilities that can be deployed, monitored, secured, and maintained across 50,000–100,000 devices, rather than solving problems one system at a time.
- Engineer across disciplines. Work across the organization's 28 IT services to understand how systems interact and identify solutions that improve overall operational effectiveness.
- Build and automate. Use PowerShell, scripting, APIs, automation platforms, and other development tools to eliminate repetitive work and create scalable engineering solutions.
- Research what's next. Investigate emerging technologies, capabilities, and engineering approaches before they become requirements. Prototype and evaluate technologies that could improve the enterprise.
- Support architecture and engineering. Work alongside senior engineers and architects to develop new capabilities, validate designs, troubleshoot existing environments, and turn concepts into operational solutions.
- Continuously improve the environment. Identify weaknesses, inefficiencies, security gaps, operational problems, and opportunities for automation, and take ownership of improving them.
Requirements:
- Experience supporting or engineering enterprise IT environments.
- Strong Windows and Linux systems knowledge.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems.
- Experience with scripting or automation; PowerShell strongly preferred.
- Understanding of enterprise infrastructure, systems administration, networking, security, and operational management.
- Ability to independently research, test, analyze, and develop solutions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with engineers, architects, technical leadership, and operations teams.
- Ability to rapidly learn unfamiliar technologies and systems.
Benefits:
- Comprehensive benefits and wellness packages
- 401K with company match
- Competitive pay and paid time off
- Full flex work weeks where possible
- Paid parental, military, bereavement, and jury duty leave
- Short and long-term disability benefits, life, accidental death and dismemberment, personal accident, critical illness, and business travel and accident insurance
