News Producer

WTIC WCCT-TV Hartford, a TEGNA-owned CW/FOX affiliate, is seeking an innovative News Producer to shape daily newscasts. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, motivated journalist who works well within a team to bring the truth to growing audiences across platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Pitch compelling stories using natural curiosity
• Showcase creativity and storytelling skills
• Craft stories of all lengths on all platforms for specific audiences
• Meet daily deadlines
• Combine live pictures, graphics, video, and sound to create an engaging experience
• Provide continuous coverage on live streams for breaking news and community events
• Try new things after discussion with supervisors
• Drive content with impactful and emotional conversations
• Use data analytics to shape show content
• Challenge traditional methods
• Ensure diverse voices and perspectives in the show

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 1-3 years of news content experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Solid journalistic judgment and news philosophy emphasizing accuracy, fairness, and unique local content
• Understanding of professional journalism tenets
• Producing engaging newscasts and digital content skills
• Strong social media presence
• Organizational skills and ability to work under time pressure
• Ability to handle live, breaking news situations
• ENPS and Edius system experience preferred
