Description
Leidos' Defense Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join a team of systems engineers developing hypersonic missile systems. The Senior Systems Engineer will support early lifecycle reviews and design development by interfacing with various teams, including Software Development, Hardware Development, Analysis, Logistics, and Test & Integration.
The Senior Systems Engineer will help develop systems engineering artifacts, including Requirements Specifications, Interface Control Documents, verification planning and reports, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) content. The role requires starting with direct tasking but moving into a more autonomous role as the program progresses.
The Senior Systems Engineer will work in a matrixed organisation supporting multiple programs across various engineering fields. A candidate with experience in other engineering areas, such as Test, Model-Based Systems Engineering, Risk Management, and Reliability Analysis, will be preferred. However, a strong background in traditional systems engineering and technical leadership is required.
Responsibilities:
- Derive requirements for complex electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and software systems
- Conduct system-level requirements analysis, functional analysis, and trade studies
- Lead large, complex tasks spanning multiple technical areas
- Effectively communicate within a team environment, including leading and conducting Technical Design Reviews
- Accurately estimate engineering effort associated with Systems Engineering tasks
- Possess a secret clearance or have the ability to obtain a secret clearance
- Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 8+ years of experience or an MS with 6+ years
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Systems Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
- Experience with MagicDraw and/or other Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) modeling tools
- Familiarity with DOORS and/or other requirements database tools
- Understanding of the DoD acquisition processes and methods
- Experience supporting DoD, NASA, or DARPA programs
- Object Management Group (OMG) Certified Systems Modeler Professional (OCSMP) certification
- INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification (ASEP or CSEP)
