Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design Closure components and systems for our vehicles. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will draft engineering solutions, create 3D models and 2D drawings using CATIA, and collaborate with internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design Closure components and systems to meet vehicle performance, safety, reliability, profitability, and manufacturing requirements
• Draft engineering solutions for assigned components or simple parts, and create associated 3D models, layouts, and 2D drawings using CATIA
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including testing, design, purchasing, styling, manufacturing, service, and supplier teams
• Develop cost and weight estimates for assigned parts and components
• Coordinate with existing suppliers to communicate requirements, manage schedules, and resolve issues in a timely manner
• Prepare moderately complex engineering documentation for review by senior engineers
• Support project execution by working within established project management plans

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
• 0 to 2 years of relevant engineering experience
• Familiarity with 3D CAD software (CATIA experience is a plus)
• Effective verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions:

• Majority of work is performed at a computer, some interaction in test lab, fabrication and manufacturing environments required
• 5-10 hours/week OT as needed, occasional travel
