Operations Manager

We are seeking an Operations Manager to lead our Uckfield Depot team. As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and effective delivery of our recycling and waste collections and street cleansing services.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure that all Health and Safety, Biffa policies and procedures, and legal obligations are understood and followed by all members of staff.
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the client and internal/external customers.
• Work with the Senior Business Manager to ensure that all financial/budgeted targets are achieved for the contract.
• Support staff training and development and periodically review training requirements.
• Supervise the performance of the operation and depot in relation to contract standards.
• Constantly review the waste collections and street cleansing operations to ensure that efficiency levels are continuously improved upon.
• Ensure work equipment is always operated in a safe manner and in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines.
• Ensure all records and systems are maintained for effective and compliant operations of the contract.

Essential criteria:

• People and health and safety management in a unionised environment.
• Proven track record of working to clearly defined service delivery KPI's.
• Experience of vehicle management.
• Proven track record of delivering continuous improvement within an operational/service environment.
• Experience of producing and analysing reports using Microsoft Office Suite.
• General knowledge of environmental responsibilities and existing health and safety legislation.
• Able to deal with conflict and negotiate/manage a suitable outcome.
• Analytical with the ability to measure & monitor data and take appropriate corrective action.
