Description
We are seeking a Surgical First Assistant to join our team at Lancaster Hospital, part of Circle Health Group. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours a week, with a flexible shift pattern.
The successful candidate will provide skilled assistance to surgeons during operations, support safe patient positioning, and maintain the surgical field. They will also promote patient dignity, empathy, and respect, and communicate effectively with patients and their families.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing skilled assistance to surgeons during operations
- Supporting safe patient positioning prior to surgical procedures
- Assisting with the application of sterile drapes and maintaining the surgical field
- Promoting patient dignity, empathy, and respect
- Communicating effectively with patients and their families
Applicants should be registered healthcare professionals with a post-registration qualification as a Surgical First Assistant. They should have demonstrable perioperative experience, competence in surgical assistance tasks, and a good understanding of surgical anatomy, patient positioning, and safety protocols.
